How to Create a Water Garden in Your Backyard

A backyard pond or a water garden can beautify a yard. It will give benefits to you and the other wildlife residents in your property.
These are the butterflies, insects, dragonflies, and birds that will naturally gravitate towards the water. It is a way of restoring the natural balance of nature in the small piece of property that you have.
Creating a water garden is not just good for you and your backyard; it is also good for the earth and the creatures in it.
There are two basic types of waterproofing material for man-made ponds: the plastic liner, and the rigid ready-mades.
Auxiliary equipment that you might need for the pond is the pumps and filters. The first step in creating a water garden is to determine the place for it.
The things to consider are distance, sunlight, size of the pond, and proximity to trees. A pond should not be too near the house but not too far either.
A place with some sun some of the time and shade most of the time would be perfect. Trees, in the long run, will destroy a liner and flood the water with rotting leaves. That being said, these are the steps in creating a water garden in your backyard:
Determine the place in your yard, keeping in mind the points to consider
Measure the size, according to your yard size and your ideal pond size
Dig deeper and bigger than your ideal pond size. Start at the deepest end first, and work your way to the shallow part
Set aside the topsoil for other gardening projects, the rocks for decorative features.
Put a foundation of gravel, then some paving sand. This will protect your waterproofing material.
Lay the liner carefully, or set down the ready-
made fiberglass pond.
Arrange with stones, rocks, and water plants.
Don’t forget the water
