Building a pond in your small backyard is not hard, so don’t panic if you don’t know how to build a pond.

First you will want to find a great spot, where trees and bushes won’t lose their leaves into the pond.

Then you can dig it, and purchase a liner to keep the water in.

If you’re soil has a lot of clay, you can really skip the liner.

You can add a filter and pump if you choose, to keep the water moving and not stagnant.

Then you will want to fill the pond with water, after having weighted your liner down on the sides of the pond with heavy rocks.

Let the water sit for a couple of days before adding fish or plants.

I would like some advice of how to go about building a duck pond. How big should it be for 5-6 ducks? Can I dig out the hole myself or do I need to get a digger? There is a stream right beside where I have in mind. How would I channel the fresh water to my pond from this stream? Would be glad for some answers to this questions. Thank you
